Online Rent Receipt Maker
Make a signed-ready rent receipt for one month or a whole year in a minute. Type the tenant, landlord and property once (they stay saved on this device), add the months with the rent paid, and get a receipt with the total in figures and words. In India mode it adds the landlord PAN line that employers ask for when rent is more than ₹1,00,000 a year and a revenue stamp note for cash; switch to another country to use your own currency and date format.
What's inside
- India (HRA) mode with landlord PAN and revenue stamp reminders, or any other country with 15 currencies and three date formats
- One line per month with rent, date paid, payment mode and reference; one receipt for the whole period
- Total in figures and in words (Indian lakh/crore style or international style)
- "Received with thanks" statement, property address and signature lines for landlord and tenant
- Print / Save as PDF, download as Excel or Word; nothing is uploaded
How to use it
- Choose the country mode: India (HRA receipt) or Other country. For other countries also pick your currency and date format.
- Type the tenant's name, the landlord's name and address, the landlord's PAN (India) and the rented property's address. These stay saved on this device.
- Type the receipt number and date.
- Add one line per month: the month, the rent, the date it was paid and how (cash, UPI, bank transfer, cheque). Use "Add month" for more.
- Read the notes under the receipt: they tell you if a PAN or a revenue stamp is usually needed.
- Press Print / PDF, or download the receipt as Excel or Word. Get it signed by the landlord.
Tips
- For HRA, many employers accept one receipt per quarter or per year; ask yours. Make monthly receipts if they want them.
- Rent paid by bank transfer or UPI is easy to prove: type the reference in each line.
- If the rent is more than ₹50,000 a month, the tenant may have to deduct TDS on rent in India; check the current rules with a tax adviser.
- Only make receipts for rent actually paid. A false rent receipt can lead to tax penalties.
Questions and answers
Is a landlord PAN compulsory?
In India, employers usually ask for the landlord's PAN when the rent paid in the year is more than ₹1,00,000. Below that, it is not usually needed. If the landlord has no PAN, employers typically ask for a declaration from the landlord.
Is a revenue stamp needed on a rent receipt?
Many employers ask for a ₹1 revenue stamp, signed across, on rent receipts above ₹5,000 paid in cash. The receipt shows a reminder when that applies. For payments by bank or UPI, the transaction reference is usually enough.
Can I use it for a shop or office rent?
Yes. The receipt works for any rent. For commercial rent with GST, issue a proper tax invoice instead, for example with the GST Invoice Maker in the Accountants toolkit.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. The receipt is made in your browser. Names and addresses are saved only in this browser on this device; clearing the site data removes them.
